Finger
changing your finger information
To modify your "finger information," type chfn at the command line. It will
ask you for a password. That is your account password.
turning off finger information
If you don't want people to finger you, just type "touch ~/.nofinger". No
one will be able find out any information about you and the contents of
~/.nofinger will NOT be displayed.
logging
If you want to see who's fingering you from off-site, type "touch
~/.fingerlog". Note that logging is disabled if the file .nofinger
exists in your home directory.
associated files
Files in your directory which are accessable via finger are
.plan,
.project,
.pgpkey, and
.xface.
The contents of these files, if they exist, will be displayed when anyone fingers you.
